The American Rescue Workers is a Christian non-profit organization that services low-income families in its community. The ARW headquarters is located in Williamsport, PA. This national organization was founded in 1884 and has multiple branches throughout the country, including the Blair County branch, located at 502 Mulberry Street in Hollidaysburg.

Victor and Deborah La Valla are the new Directors and American Rescue Workers Majors of the Blair branch. They were commissioned here from Canton, Ohio in March of 2015.

Our main office is located at 502 Mulberry Street in Hollidaysburg. This is where we have clothing and material give-aways during the spring and summer months as we have enough volunteers to assist us at multiple locations. We also host outdoor give-aways at 811 Scotch Valley Road in Hollidaysburg, PA. To stay up-to-date on the random give-away opportunities, please like us and follow us on Facebook at ARW Blair County. We update that page more frequently than the website. Our give-aways are open to anyone who resides in Blair County, and IDs are often checked to verify residency.

Currently, we are hosting a re-entry program at the 502 Mulberry Street building on Tuesdays and Thursdays to assist Blair County Jail inmates with obtaining additional skills and tools for re-acclimating successfully into the community.

We serve more than 200 families each month, equating to about 10 families per day, at our Food Pantry Location (811 Scotch Valley Road in Hollidaysburg). Our food pantry helps families living in the following areas: Hollidaysburg, Duncansville, East Freedom, Martinsburg, Roaring Springs, and Newry. All others are referred to pantries in their locations.

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” Matthew 25: 35-36.

The American Rescue Workers spreads the love and ministry of Jesus Christ through our service. God commands us to love our neighbor as ourselves and we follow this scripture as our model for how to help others; loving each one into God's Kingdom, one soul at a time.
