The Mary Fowler Nest Project

The American Rescue Workers is raising funds for a new community building, called the Mary Fowler Nest.

The new building will be located at the rear of our 502 Mulberry Street location and will be used for both fundraising events and other community projects and functions.

Being a nonprofit organization with a food pantry, the American Rescue Workers relies on grants that must be used for specific purposes, as well as generous donations from the community. These non-restricted funds can be used to make much-needed repairs, and help pay the overhead cost of operations.

This new building will not only help generate funds to support other ARW services, but it will also serve the community as a resource to hang out with friends with a movie night, a book club or any other event for which people want to rent the space.

The ARW Local Advisory Board is exploring many new and exciting possibilities for this new structure!

The American Rescue Workers is Loving God by Serving Others. We believe we are called to live out the corporal works of mercy by helping people meet their material and spiritual needs. We serve families in need in Hollidaysburg, Duncansville, Martinsburg, East Freedom, Newry, and Roaring Spring through our food pantry, and our giveaways are open to everyone in Blair County.

There are numerous ways for you to get involved with us. Supporting the new building is one of them. We are selling personalized bricks that will memorialize your support of our mission and ministry.

Who is Mary Fowler?

Mary Fowler Original Picture-edited.jpg

Mary Fowler, a former ARW leader, was well-known for loving people fiercely. She served and advocated for the poorest of the poor in Blair County. For this reason, we chose to name the new community building after her.

As we raise funds for this new building and to support our various services, we are selling personalized engraved bricks that will be displayed on a wall in the new building.
