The American Rescue Workers’ MOVING ON FROM COVID-19

UPDATES

The American Rescue Workers’ Food Pantry is pressing on through 2021. To say that it is business as usual is false. We lost numerous volunteers as a result of Covid-19 last year and the challenges it brought. Our external deliveries have increased greatly, and we have changed how we do things in the office. We have a limited amount of traffic flow in the building, and many are still maintaining their distance when they come to the office. As we move forward, we will continue to do all that we can to ensure the safety and well-being of those working and volunteering here as well as those who are utilizing our services.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during last year’s crisis and as we continue into 2021. Need to contact us? Call us at 814-695-0762 or message us on Facebook at ARW Blair County. We share on Facebook more frequently than on our website.

SOCIAL DISTANCING
Areas are marked to achieve a level of social distancing for those receiving food, and/or working in the building.

PROXIES
Clients have proxies added to their new paper work. These are the individuals that can accept food orders for the client when clients are unable or unavailable to get their own orders.

NOTE FOR EVERYONE:
If you are not feeling well in any capacity, please do not come in to our facility. We are working diligently to preserve the health and safety of our employees, volunteers, donors and everyone who comes to us for help. We are taking daily temperatures of those working or volunteering as a safety measure for all.

RESTAURANTS
If you are a restaurant or food service entity with excess produce or food, we will be happy to accept any donation of food you have that can be distributed. Just give us a call at 814-695-0762. We presently have a pig farmer and a chicken farmer who are helping to dispense food items that are not suitable for human consumption.

DONATIONS
We are currently accepting clothing and household donations. The truck will be parked at Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren on Saturday, Sept. 11 and Oct. 2 from 10 am to 2 pm to receive donations. You may also bring them to 811 Scotch Valley Road. We will be taking a break from excessive donated items from Nov. through Mar. so that we have ample room for our Christmas programs and in order to clean the warehouse.
